PAWD CONVENTION HELD. Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Acting Administrator Jeci Lapus underscores the importance and urgency of tapping surface water sources like rivers and lakes – as well as harvesting rainfall – as an alternative to groundwater extraction, which he says has been causing our land surface to sink below sea level. This issue was made during a gathering of water districts and other players in the water sector from across the country during the 40th national convention and exhibition of the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) with the theme “Water Districts: Addressing Challenges through Innovations”. The convention was held recently at the SMX Convention Center, MOA, Pasay City.
