Disaster Preparedness Seminar/Workshop

In celebration of the LWUA’s 43rd Anniversary, the LWUA-GFPS conducted a Gender and Development Disaster Preparedness Seminar last September 20, 2016 at the LWUA Multi-Purpose Hall.


 

Engr. Edna I. Conda, Chief of the Operations Division, Department of Civil Defense, was the resource person. It was attended by a total of 289 employees (Female 132 and Male 157).

Engineer E. Conda discussed the following topics:

1.  The Philippine Disaster Risk Profile
2.  Types of Natural and Manmade Hazards
3.  What is Disaster
4.  Risk Assessment
5. Gender-Based Capacities for Managing Risks
6. How to promote gender equality in Disaster Risk Reduction
7. Preparing for Floods

A question and answer followed after all the topics were discussed. The participants were particularly eager to learn more as manifested by the type and range of questions asked, which were answered to their satisfaction by the resource person. The participants’ knowledge and awareness in facing a disaster is enhanced. This seminar/workshop shall help reduce the risks in case a disaster strikes. Also, the participants were provided with free transistor radios  that will help them know the latest information on weather disturbance and the updated news.
